Activating The Software

Datanamic uses software activation in all of its products. Software activation helps prevent software piracy and ensure you receive a fully functional software product when purchasing any of our software.

Software activation is an anonymous and secure process designed to promote only licensed use of our software. Today most software installed on new computer hardware requires activation. Activation is a straightforward process and does not request or transfer any of your personal information.

The number of software activations allowed is determined by the software's End User License Agreement (EULA).

Entering license code and license key

When Datanamic software is purchased you will receive a license code (typically the name of the license holder) and a license key. When you run the full version for the first time you'll be prompted to enter these license code and license key. The software will validate the entered license code and license key. When the license code and license key are valid, the software can be used and is ready to be activated. You can use a non-activated product 30 times.

Activating the software

The software creates a unique "machine fingerprint/hardware id" based upon your system hardware. The unique machine fingerprint and license key combination are passed over the internet to the Datanamic activation server, either through automatic or manual/e-mail activation.

The Datanamic activation server tracks the number of machine fingerprints per license key. If the number of machine fingerprints for each license key has not been exceeded, the server sends back an activation key to activate the software.

When the software is not activated, you'll see the Software activation dialog each time you start the software. Press Activate later when you want to activate the software in a later stadium.

You can also select Help | Activate software to activate the Activate software dialog.

There are two ways to activate the software (Both options are available in the Software activation dialog):

1. Automatic activation using your internet connection (recommended way)

This is a very quick and easy way of activating the software. Simply press the "Automatic" button. After pressing this button, the software will connect to the Datanamic activation server and will send (a part) of your license key and your machine fingerprint (hardware id) to the activation server. The Datanamic activation server tracks the number of machine fingerprints per license key. If the number of machine fingerprints for each license key has not been exceeded, the server sends back an activation key to activate the software. This activation key is validated and stored automatically and you will see a dialog that tells you that the software has been activated successfully.

2. Manual activation (via e-mail)

This activation option consists of two steps. First, press the "Manual" button in the activation dialog. In the next dialog press the "Apply for act. key" button. A new dialog will be shown with the text to e-mail to datanamic (activate@datanamic.com). The text to send to Datanamic contains your license key and your machine fingerprint (hardware id). Send the text to Datanamic (activate@datanamic.com). We will validate the license key and the machine fingerprint and will send you an activation key (within 24 hours). Go to the Software activation dialog when you receive the e-mail with the activation key from datanamic. Press the "Manual" button again and next the "Enter received act. key" button. Copy and paste the activation key in the activation key entry field. Press the OK button to validate the entered activation key. This activation key is stored and you will see a dialog that tells you that the software has been activated successfully.
