Data ModelingDeZign for Databases allows you to draw a database diagram (ER Diagram) using its easy-to-use drawing tools. In your diagram you can visually make a design using entities, relationships, subcategories, group boxes and text blocks. When designing a database, you can create, edit, or delete tables, columns, keys, relationships, indexes and constraints. One project/design can contain as many subdiagrams as you like. Each entity/table can appear on any number of subdiagrams.
Forward EngineeringOnce you’ve created your tables/entities and defined their columns, you can create the MS Access database you’ve drawn on the screen. DeZign for Databases will validate your data model and automatically generates the database based on your data model.
Reverse Engineering MS Access DatabasesDeZign for Databases can generate a data model from an existing MS Access database. The tool can connect to your MS Access database and extracts all the information you need, such as tables, fields, relationships, indexes and other database objects. The database objects will be added to your database diagram. You can now start redesigning (and altering) your database or you can generate database documentation.
Comparing and Synchronizing Model and DatabaseDeZign for Databases offers powerful compare and synchronize features. The tool connects and loads your MS Access database, displays the differences between your model and the database, and allows you to select which differences must be moved to the database or to the data model. If model changes move into the database, DeZign for Databases automatically executes the commands to update this in your MS Access database.
Generating Database DocumentationDeZign for Databases offers customizable reporting and printing capabilities. You can generate documentation in MS Word, PDF or HTML formats. You can print out your diagram or export your diagram to an image file (gif, jpg, bmp, wmf).
Working with Multiple DatabasesDeZign for Databases does not only support MS Access databases. It supports more than 15 databases. You can easily switch to another target DBMS. The tool will then convert your data model to the other selected database. The tool also supports target database indepedent modeling. You then select the target DBMS when you generate your database.
Supported MS Access VersionsDeZign for Databases can forward engineer and reverse engineer MS Access 97,2000,2003, 2007 and 2010 databases. It uses ADO to connect to MS Access.
